The Friends of Abingdon our town's civic society takes bookings for Community FreeSpace. This is in Bury Street. It is made available free of charge to town community groups to promote their activities. This year it has hosted heritage, history, crafts, the town's excellent photography club's competition winners, flower arranging and lots more.
The town’s civic society took on full responsibility for this 'window' on what happens in town from the Choose Abingdon initiative. When in Bury Street shopping have a look at any community activities in the town. So many activities meet in North or South Abingdon as well as town centre.
The Community FreeSpace is available free of charge to local community groups, charities and not-for-profit organisations for periods of up to two weeks for small-scale activities such as displays, meetings, small celebrations and generally promoting their organisation. Nothing can be sold here.
There is no charge for community groups and small local charities; Larger charities and not-for-profit organisations are invited to make a donation towards running costs.
Examples of groups using FreeSpace include:
- Camera Club – exhibition
