How Britain can use Soft Power to Prevent Conflict

Tuesday, 20 November 2018 - 8:00pm

Abingdon Peace Group invite you to share a rare opportunity to hear first-hand from conflict zones in Africa. Officials and diplomats often discourage action in the face of mass killings by telling us we can either do nothing or send in our troops. This binary choice deliberately ignores the impact that using our soft power can have on incipient ethnic cleansing or civil war.

Rebecca Tinsley is a lawyer, author and former BBC reporter: her NGO Network for Africa works in post-genocide societies, training psychotherapy counsellors. She will cover the conflicts she has seen at first hand, from Bosnia and Rwanda to Iraq.
