It was originally intended that the Community Led Plan would be launched with consultation events in July 2017.  However matters have been delayed for a number of reasons not least of which was the extended period of “purdah” relating to the County and General elections which severely restricted our ability progress matters , issue publicity and engage the public.  We have therefore postponed the launch events until September.  This will give a longer lead time to publicise the events so we can have a meaningful consultation and ensure as many people as possible are able to get involved. Music in the Park

This year Music in the Park takes place in the Abbey Grounds from 5pm on Saturday 3rd June 2017. After a busy six weeks, wristbands have now sold out . For those who have their wristbands the music starts at 5pm with a live performance from Flexamuscle. They are followed by  Shakedown Prophets, Bigtopp and the AGC Rock Band.  The evening concludes with a Proms Concert by Abingdon Town Band and  a Grand Firework Display. Following the  terrorist attack on the Manchester Arena on 22nd May 2017 the Council has reviewed the arrangements in place for Fun in the Park and Music in the Park on 3rd June 2017. The Council has taken advice from the Police and its security providers and has worked hard during the last week to review arrangements to help ensure as far as is possible that both these popular events are safe for all those families who come along to enjoy them. The Mouse Hole Cafe, located in the basement of Abingdon County Hall and operated by Abingdon-on-Thames Town Council, are seeking a Saturday volunteer. The cafe offers a cosy and friendly space run by a small team of staff and volunteers, serving hot drinks, snacks and light lunches. The cafe promotes a community atmosphere, and the Mouse Hole Club (run by the museum's superb volunteers) puts on regular adult craft activities. Learn to Draw abingdon museum art pencil sketch workshop

Abingdon Museum welcomes artist Kate Hammersley who will be conducting a series of workshops over four weeks in April entitled Learn to Draw.
