MG 90 exhibition opens

We are delighted to announce the opening of a special exhibition celebrating 90 years since the creation of the MG Marque. The history of MG in Abingdon is one of international recognition, with owners and enthusiasts visiting the spiritual home and MG Car Club from far and wide including Australia, America, Japan and China. The exhibition is a delightful collection of authentic factory memorabilia, personal items owned by Cecil Kimber - sometimes known as the Father of MG, replica models, trophies and footage from the British Motor Heritage Archives. Radio 4's Robin Ince will be helping the Abingdon Science Festival to kick off in style this week. "Converscience; an evening of wit and science" is the title of the evening of entertainment being held at St Helen and St Katherine School, the opening event for ATOM!, Abingdon's first ever Science Festival. Business Improvement Districts exist in 170 locations around the country

Choose Abingdon Partnership board members were pleased to hear on Friday of the decision from the Department of Communities and Local Government that their application for £33 000 has been approved. The money has been earmarked to support the town's businesses in deciding how they form themselves into a Business Improvement District, or "BID". There are 170 locations around the country where businesses have voted in favour of this method of managing a commercial area. Ruby's Vintage Fair in the Guildhall tomorrow 10am to 3pm. Homemade sandwiches and cakes for High Tea in the Vintage Tea Room, hair and make-up vintage makeovers, two full rooms of vintage stalls from all over the country - Retro heaven in Abingdon Town Centre with free parking for two hours in all car parks.

Updated Monday 10th February 2014  Following recent heavy rain, with more forecast, there is renewed concern regarding the potential for flooding in Abingdon. Apprenticeship Week will be based at the Choose Abingdon Community Shop

Apprenticeship Week starts in Abingdon-on-Thames next Monday (27th). Help and advice for young people and businesses will be available in the Community Shop on Bury Street (opposite The Gift Centre) and a "Making Sense of Apprenticeships" Event will take place on the Thursday morning at Miele, designed to help businesses find out more about how to offer apprenticeships in their workplace.
