THE GUILDHALL Currently the historic rooms of the Guildhall, which date back to the 15th Century, are not available for hire. However they remain fully maintained, and used to deliver public services including the popular and busy Information Centre. The Council is pursuing an ambitious improvement project and we are pleased to report that planning approval has been given to provide the following: GROUND FLOOR ACCESSIBLE TOILETS MUNIMENT ROOM FOR THE TOWN’S ARCHIVES WITH EASY ACCESS AND READING ROOM PLATFORM LIFT TO, FOR THE FIRST TIME, ENABLE DISABLED ACCESS TO OLD MAGISTRATES COURT... more

This year’s Remembrance Day commemorations will take place on Sunday 12th November 2017 - 10.00 am: Remembrance Day Service at St Helen's Church led by Rev Mary Williamson. 10.50am:  Remembrance Day Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial. The civic party, the Army and detachments of local organisations will parade to the War Memorial. The service at the War Memorial will be led by Rev Mary Williamson. The Cunning Little Vixen, a special screening and talk by Geoff Dunbar   Wednesday, 1st November, 7:00pm-9:00pm   BAFTA award winning director and animator Geoff Dunbar presents a very special screening of his celebrated production for the BBC of The Cunning Little Vixen. Abingdon on Thames Town Council is sad to announce the death of Mrs Janet Morgan, Freeman of the town of Abingdon-on-Thames and Past Mayor. Janet was a member of the Town Council from 1983 to 1995 and was Mayor of the Town in 1988/89.  She was awarded the Freedom of Abingdon in 2011.  Janet was also a past member of the Vale of White Horse District Council (including serving as the Leader of the Council) and of Oxfordshire County Council.  As an ex-teacher she was also a governor of 3 schools.
