The annual Mayors Over 70's Christmas Party has now sold out! There are no longer any tickets available and we are very sorry for any dissapointment this may cause, but for those of you who managed to grab a ticket the Mayor of Abingdon-on-Thames, Cllr Margaret Crick, is really looking forward to welcoming you to this festive event!

People who have difficulty paying their energy bills might be able to take advantage of the Warm Home Discount, a new kind of grant offered by the government and energy suppliers.  The Warm Home Discount is a scheme that provides people on low incomes with a single discount of £140 on their winter electricity bill. (You might be able to get the discount applied to your gas bill instead - contact your supplier to find out.)  The discount will not affect your Cold Weather Payment or Winter Fuel Payment. The Mayor of Abingdon-on-Thames, Councillor Margaret Crick, is hosting the annual over 70's Christmas Party with tea and entertainment for Abingdon-on-Thames’s older residents on Monday 17th December this year. Do you live in Abingdon-on-Thames? Are you 70 or over? Great! Then we'd love you to come along for the festive fun. Motorists in the Vale of White Horse can enjoy free parking in district council car parks on certain days in the run up to Christmas. 100th Commemoration of the World War One Armistice Please see below a list of events organised by the Abingdon-on-Thames Town Council to commemorate the First World War Centenary.  Saturday 6th October – Abingdon County Hall Museum – Exhibition on the roll of the Indian Army during the Great War which runs until 28th October 2018.  This exhibition will be joined with the “Great War Propaganda” exhibition which showcases and explores the imagery of wartime conscription and propaganda poster 1914-1918.  This exhibition runs until 23rd December 2018. Community Grants Scheme This is a reminder that Abingdon Town Council have a community grant scheme in place with a budget of £18,000 available for grants for the financial year commencing 1st April 2018 and applications may now be made for funding. Last year grants were awarded from the Community Grants scheme to 23 different organisations. Grant applications are considered by the Community Services Committee at its meetings, which take place four times each year.
