With just over 2 weeks to go until our popular Music in the Park event make sure you get your tickets as soon as possible so you don’t miss out! This year promises to be as good as ever with music from Local bands; Nevada, Fallen Angels, The Voodoo Penguins and Hope & Glory. Concluding with the usual Proms Concert by Abingdon Town Band and a Grand Firework Display. Throughout the evening there will be local Food Vans and Bars serving a range of food and drink for you to enjoy. The Annual Mayor Making ceremony and Annual Council meeting will take place in the Abbey Hall, the Guildhall on Monday 13th May 2019 at 7pm (doors open - 6.30pm, arrive early to secure a seat). All are invited and very wecome to this important event.  This marks the start of the four year term of the Council elected on 2nd May and the investiture of the Mayor of Abingdon, a post which has been filled by the town since 1556. Local elections  took place on Thursday 2nd May 2019. Abingdon Town Council Following the elections the ruling group on the Council are the Liberal Democrats.  The political composition of the Council in terms of numbers of Councillors, is as follows: Liberal Democrat - 18 (+10) Green - 1 (+1) Conservative - 0 (-10) Independent - 0 (-1) The detailed results by area (ward) of the town, may be found by clicking here.
