THE MAYOR OF ABINGDON, CLLR CHARLIE BIRKS The whole of the town was shocked and saddened to hear of the death of PC Andrew Harper, who had been based at Abingdon Police Station for many years.  Andrew lost his life in the line of duty, selflessly serving and protecting the public.  His death has come as a sharp reminder of the risks which the police take on our behalf every day.  As a mark of respect the Thames Valley Police Flag is flying at half-mast from Abingdon County Hall.  Our thoughts are with Andrew’s widow Lissie, his family, his friends and his colleagues. Changes to the Town 41 Bus Service The Town Council provides the subsidy which enables the town bus service 41, to operate.  The service is operated by Thames Travel. The service runs from Monday to Friday each week and currently runs through South Abingdon (via Saxton Road, Preston Road and Reynolds Way), Fairacres Retails park, the town centre (Stratton Way), Hadland Road and the White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre. Vegetables and other fresh and local goods at the market this Saturday

  This  is a Saturday to head into the town centre for the excellence market where local food producers, craftworkers and retailers sell their goods in Abingdon Market Place. The Local Excellence Market gives Abingdon shoppers the chance to sample foods, beers and crafts from Oxfordshire and the nearest counties. The market starts at 9am and packs up at £pm, regardless of the weather! Come down and check it out. It's always a busy enviroment with lots to see and buy. Abingdon Pride have confirmed that next year’s event will take place on Saturday 13th June 2020. Abingdon Pride AGM to decide Executive and Officer Posts will take place on Wednesday 11th September 2019 at 7pm. Anyone wishing to submit themselves for a particular role must email louise.brown@abingdon.gov.uk by Wednesday 4th September 2019.
