Abingdon Flood Defences - Proposals for Temporary Flood Barrier Abingdon Town Council has organised a meeting with the Environment Agency (EA) at which the EA will update residents on their work in relation to Abingdon Flood Defences and outline their proposals for a temporary flood barrier. The meeting will take place in the Roysse Room at 7pm on Thursday 18th July 2019. Britain’s newest Pride comes to Britain’s oldest town on Saturday 22nd June 2019. Abingdon Pride takes place on Saturday 22nd June and will include: Entertainment and stalls on the Market Place from 10am  to 5pm. Please note, now that the fishing season is nearly here, that it is essential for all anglers to carry a permit to fish the town waters. To get a fishing permit please call in to the Information Centre which is located in Abingdon Museum between 10.00 am and 3.00 pm Tuesday to Saturday. You MUST obtain a fishing permit tomorrow if you would like to fish the first day of the Season on Sunday. You must also have an Environment Agency rod licence to fish. With 1 day to go it’s time to get excited about this year’s Fun and Music in the Park events and to confirm times so you all know exactly when to come on down and join us for an exciting day! The daytime event, Fun in the Park, runs from 10.30 AM to 3.30 PM and is free - just walk in and enjoy the many kid’s activities and food stalls available! This year’s Music in the Park then takes place in the evening from 4:30 PM – 10:00 PM, with local bands to enjoy and concluding with the usual Proms Concert by Abingdon Town Band and a Grand Firework Display. The Annual Mayor Making ceremony and Annual Council meeting will take place in the Abbey Hall, the Guildhall on Monday 13th May 2019 at 7pm (doors open - 6.30pm, arrive early to secure a seat). All are invited and very wecome to this important event.  This marks the start of the four year term of the Council elected on 2nd May and the investiture of the Mayor of Abingdon, a post which has been filled by the town since 1556.
