Local Elections 2019 On Thursday 2 May, people over the age of 18 will be able to vote in local elections in the Vale of White Horse. You will be able to vote for a district councillor and, in some places, you will also get to vote for a town or parish councillor. It is that time of year again when Tickets go on sale for the popular Music in the Park event organised by Abingdon-on-Thames Town Council. Wristbands for this year’s event will be on sale from Monday 8th April in the Abbey Cinema, Guildhall. Wristbands will cost £10 for adults and £5 for children. Under 5's are free but will need a band for entry. No concessions. The Annual Parish Meeting will be held on Tuesday 12th March 2019, in the Roysse Room, Guildhall, Abingdon-on-Thames at 7pm.  All interested residents are welcome to attend.  Held once a year the Annual Town Meeting is organised by the Town Council on behalf of the electors of Abingdon.  This is not a Council meeting but is an opportunity for residents to raise and discuss matters affecting the town and express their views.  Chairmen of the various Town Council committees will give their reports on the work of the Council during the last year and be available to answer any questions and hear... more

South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse district councils have made it even easier for residents to check which bin their waste items go in by using the councils’ new recycling wheels. The councils have produced the wheels to help increase recycling rates by promoting the kerbside recycling collections and making sure residents are putting the right things in the right bins. Please see below an update from Vale of White Horse District Council regarding Waste Collections: Your recycling and waste collections Update waste collections week commencing 4 February 2019 The snow last Friday (1 February) caused unsafe driving conditions for our waste trucks so we decided to cancel our waste collections  on that day. We will begin catching up on Monday 4 February. Unfortunately this will have a knock-on effect on collections for the rest of the week.  Our advice is that if your bins aren't emptied on your scheduled collection day, please leave them out for three days... more
