The Mayor of Abingdon-on-Thames, Cllr Margaret Crick, is hosting her charity Quiz evening in The Roysse Room, Guildhall, Abingdon at 7pm on Friday 30th November. The Mayor is welcoming teams of up to six people to the Quiz night and the evening is in aid of her charities - the Over 70s Christmas Party, Abingdon Carousal and Be Free Young Carers.   Tickets are available in advance for £12 pp to include a buffet. Abingdon-on-Thames Town Council are pleased to announce that from 21st October 2018, the Bus service 41 will be re-introduced. This service is operated by Thames Travel and is based on the previous 41 service which stopped when the Oxfordshire County Council could no longer subsidise a lot of bus routes. Now Abingdon-on-Thames Town Council have funding for a year to bring the service back. The Bus Serves South Abingdon on Monday to Friday. Please see link here for the timetable

From 6th October to 23rd December 2018 Very moving exhibition open Tuesday to Sunday 10am to 4pm Abingdon County Hall Museum proudly presents an exhibition comprised of recruitment and propaganda posters of the Great War. The diverse collection tells the story of a society at the beginning of the first modern war when each day changing news and messages were delivered. The organisers of next week's Abingdon Michaelmas Fun Fair are promising a bigger and better version of one of last year's hit attractions. Mission Space will replace the Sky Fly ride on Ock Street, towering 40 metres (130 feet) high. For two days only – Monday 8th and Tuesday 9th – riders will be able to enjoy an exhilarating experience as they are twirled high over the rooftops of the Oxfordshire town. 100th Commemoration of the World War One Armistice Please see below a list of events organised by the Abingdon-on-Thames Town Council to commemorate the First World War Centenary.  Saturday 6th October – Abingdon County Hall Museum – Exhibition on the roll of the Indian Army during the Great War which runs until 28th October 2018.  This exhibition will be joined with the “Great War Propaganda” exhibition which showcases and explores the imagery of wartime conscription and propaganda poster 1914-1918.  This exhibition runs until 23rd December 2018. Abingdon Michaelmas Fair will take place on Monday 8th and Tuesday 9th October from 12 noon to 11pm each day.  The Michaelmas Fair is the longest street fair in Europe, running from the Market Place, through the High Street, The Square and the full length of Ock Street.  This historic street fair has its origins in the shortage of labour following  the Black Death of 1348/9.  The Fair was a hiring fair, the equivalent of today's employment agencies and online job websites. Please see below we have received from The Vale of White Horse District Council -  Householders are being reminded by Vale of White Horse District Council of changes to their bin collections during the week following Bank Holiday Monday. There will be no bin collections on Bank Holiday Monday 27 August. Everyone’s bins will then be collected one day later than usual. This includes households who normally have their bins emptied on a Friday – crews will be working on Saturday 1 September to catch up.
