Abingdon-on-Thames Town Council

Abingdon-on-Thames is a vibrant market town with a population of over 33,000. Abingdon-on-Thames Town Council is a parish council under the Local Government Act 1972 and is the successor authority in terms of parish functions to the Abingdon Borough Council.

Find our contact details on the contact us page.

The Town Council has a vision to work with our partners to create a cohesive town that reflects its culture and tradition with the key features of the town centre looking like they belong together. Our vision is to develop a vibrant and attractive modern market town that is steeped in history and which the people will be proud of and want to share with visitors; a town that is economically vibrant, attractive to look at, has a lively social and cultural scene and strong community cohesion.

The Town Council is responsible to the residents of Abingdon-on-Thames for a wide range of services. In this section of the Abingdon-on-Thames website we outline these services, as well as information about council meetings, committees, councillors, budget spending and the civic calendar.

Abingdon-on-Thames Town Council produces an official Town Guide every two years. An e-copy of the guide, published in the summer of 2015, is available here
