Enjoy the Marketplace

Abingdon-on-Thames is a market town that still proudly upholds the tradition of the Market Place as a focus of town life. The Market Place is central, easily reached, and is the scene of important occasions and music festivals but also of weekly and monthly markets, fairs and community events. On any day of the week it's a lovely place to drink tea or a cappuccino in the sunshine, catch up with friends or plan a day out in the town and surrounding area.

There are activities all year round, including in Winter, with more in the May to October period 

Please note the traditional Boxing Day MG rally on Market Place save the date for 2021 as there will not be an event on Saturday 26th December 2020.

Market Day is Monday for a range of produce, plants, gifts, clothes and interesting food. The market is not open most Bank Holidays and during Abingdon Fair in October but there is fresh produce a lot of it low on food miles at least forty five weeks each year very reliably. Our local farmers' markets are third Fridays for a list of what is on offer 

Local clubs and societies are encouraged to use the area to promote their groups or a registered charity with a local connection. Sort out your date and apply, when this is agreed obtain a licence to fundraise. Click here  for further details on how to book the Market Place for your event.
